and you say, “Oh, how I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!


Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble and as dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will become rotten, and their blossom go up like dust, for they have rejected the instruction of the Lord of hosts and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.


You shall leave your name to my chosen to use as a curse, and the Lord God will put you to death, but to his servants he will give a different name.


But if you warn the wicked to turn from their ways and they do not turn from their ways, the wicked shall die in their iniquity, but you will have saved your life.


Look at the nations and see! Be astonished! Be astounded! For a work is being done in your days that you would not believe if you were told.


The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all this, and they ridiculed him.


And the people stood by watching, but the leaders scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Messiah of God, his chosen one!”


For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, ‘I have set you to be a light for the gentiles, so that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”


Then he said to me, ‘Go, for I will send you far away to the gentiles.’ ”


And it will be that everyone who does not listen to that prophet will be utterly rooted out of the people.’


for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and will change the customs that Moses handed on to us.”


by hindering us from speaking to the gentiles so that they may be saved. Thus they have constantly been filling up the measure of their sins, but wrath has overtaken them at last.


For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; if it begins with us, what will be the end for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
