He got up and ate and drank; then he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mount of God.


“Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that produces its fruits.


Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.


“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”


He fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he was famished.


So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.


A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”


After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he showed himself in this way.


This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.


and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, and they are now his witnesses to the people.


He entered the synagogue and for three months spoke out boldly and argued persuasively about the kingdom of God.


After they had set a day to meet with him, they came to him at his lodgings in great numbers. From morning until evening he explained the matter to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the law of Moses and from the prophets.


proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.


But when they believed Philip, who was proclaiming the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.


For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.


Then I lay prostrate before the Lord as before, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water because of all the sin you had committed, provoking the Lord by doing what was evil in his sight.


When I went up the mountain to receive the stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant that the Lord made with you, I remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water.


He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son,


urging and encouraging you and pleading that you lead a life worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.


We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life—
