Then Jacob called his sons and said, “Gather around, that I may tell you what will happen to you in days to come.


He made my feet like the feet of deer and set me secure on the heights.


He is a tower of salvation for his king and shows steadfast love to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever.”


Then on that day David first appointed the singing of praises to the Lord by Asaph and his kindred.


Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wonderful works.


“I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill.”


The prayers of David son of Jesse are ended.


I have found my servant David; with my holy oil I have anointed him;


my hand shall always remain with him; my arm also shall strengthen him.

For David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand


Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.”


This is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God, blessed the Israelites before his death.


Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.


Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise.


Now David was the son of an Ephrathite of Bethlehem in Judah named Jesse, who had eight sons. In the days of Saul the man was already old and advanced in years.


And the women sang to one another as they made merry, “Saul has killed his thousands and David his ten thousands.”


The Lord! His adversaries will be shattered; the Most High will thunder in heaven. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to his king and exalt the power of his anointed.”
