On the third day, a man came from Saul’s camp with his clothes torn and dirt on his head. When he came to David, he fell to the ground and did obeisance.


But Tamar put ashes on her head and tore the long robe that she was wearing; she put her hand on her head and went away, crying aloud as she went.


But David went up the ascent of the Mount of Olives, weeping as he went, with his head covered and walking barefoot, and all the people who were with him covered their heads and went up, weeping as they went.


When David had passed a little beyond the summit, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him with a couple of donkeys saddled, carrying two hundred loaves of bread, one hundred bunches of raisins, one hundred of summer fruits, and one skin of wine.


Now Absalom and all the Israelites came to Jerusalem; Ahithophel was with him.


Then Absalom said, “Call Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear too what he has to say.”


Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab and for Molech the abomination of the Ammonites on the mountain east of Jerusalem.


Baana son of Hushai, in Asher and Bealoth;


Ahithophel was the king’s counselor, and Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.


Rise up, O Lord! Deliver me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.


Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”


When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue them and honor them.


When he had come near Bethphage and Bethany, at the place called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of the disciples,


then going from Bethel to Luz, it passes along to Ataroth, the territory of the Archites;


A man of Benjamin ran from the battle line and came to Shiloh the same day, with his clothes torn and with earth upon his head.
