Unstable as water, you shall no longer excel because you went up onto your father’s bed; then you defiled it—you went up onto my couch!


When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon (fame due to the name of the Lord), she came to test him with riddles.


All day long they seek to injure my cause; all their thoughts are against me for evil.


You shall not follow a majority in wrongdoing; when you bear witness in a lawsuit, you shall not side with the majority so as to pervert justice,


“You shall not pervert the justice due to your poor in their lawsuits.


But “the burden of the Lord” you shall mention no more, for the burden is everyone’s own word, and so you pervert the words of the living God, the Lord of hosts, our God.


So the law becomes slack, and justice never prevails. The wicked surround the righteous; therefore judgment comes forth perverted.


He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?


So, for the sake of your tradition, you nullify the word of God.


Jesus answered them, “You are wrong because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God.


You must not distort justice; you must not show partiality; and you must not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.


Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, and their glory is in their shame; their minds are set on earthly things.


About this we have much to say that is hard to explain, since you have become sluggish in hearing.


Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the exiles of the dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,


and “A stone that makes them stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.


But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive opinions. They will even deny the Master who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.


They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!


Therefore, beloved, while you are waiting for these things, strive to be found by him at peace, without spot or blemish,


that you should remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken through your apostles.


For certain intruders have stolen in among you, people who long ago were designated for this condemnation as ungodly, who pervert the grace of our God into debauchery and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
