4 But the king of Assyria found treachery in Hoshea, for he had sent messengers to King So of Egypt and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year; therefore the king of Assyria confined him and imprisoned him.

The Lord has an indictment against Judah and will punish Jacob according to his ways and repay him according to his deeds.


Where now is your king, that he may save you? Where in all your cities are your rulers, of whom you said, “Give me a king and rulers”?


Though they bargain with the nations, I will now gather them up. They shall soon writhe under the burden of kings and princes.


The Lord will bring you and the king whom you set over you to a nation that neither you nor your ancestors have known, where you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone.
