but you shall be called priests of the Lord; you shall be named ministers of our God; you shall enjoy the wealth of the nations, and in their riches you shall glory.


The grain offering and the drink offering are cut off from the house of the Lord. The priests mourn, the ministers of the Lord.

For our slight, momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure,


We have renounced the shameful, underhanded ways; we refuse to practice cunning or to falsify God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God.


We are afflicted in every way but not crushed, perplexed but not driven to despair,


For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves guiltless in the matter.


May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, so that you may have all endurance and patience, joyfully


I am now rejoicing in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am completing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church.


For this reason, brothers and sisters, during all our distress and persecution we have been encouraged about you through your faith.


And we urge you, brothers and sisters, to admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with all of them.


Yet she will be saved through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.


If you put these instructions before the brothers and sisters, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound teaching that you have followed.


But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.


Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel, in the power of God,


And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to everyone, an apt teacher, patient,


As for you, be sober in everything, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully.


Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,


I, John, your brother who share with you the persecution and the kingdom and the endurance in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.


Because you have kept my word of endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
