Who at any time pays the expenses for doing military service? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat any of its fruit? Or who tends a flock and does not get any of its milk?


Now, even if I boast a little too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for tearing you down, I will not be ashamed of it.


So I write these things while I am away from you, so that when I come I may not have to be severe in using the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.


Not that we are qualified of ourselves to claim anything as coming from us; our qualification is from God,


But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.


truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left;


But since we belong to the day, let us be sober and put on the breastplate of faith and love and for a helmet the hope of salvation.


This charge I commit to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies made earlier about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight,


Share in suffering like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
