Then the king answered the woman, “Do not withhold from me anything I ask you.” The woman said, “Let my lord the king speak.”


And say to Amasa, ‘Are you not my bone and my flesh? So may God do to me and more, if you are not the commander of my army from now on, in place of Joab.’ ”

King Zedekiah sent for the prophet Jeremiah and received him at the third entrance of the temple of the Lord. The king said to Jeremiah, “I have something to ask you; do not hide anything from me.”

Should this be said, O house of Jacob? Is the Lord’s patience exhausted? Are these his doings? Do not my words do good to one who walks uprightly?


When he came to him, he was standing beside his burnt offerings with the officials of Moab. Balak said to him, “What has the Lord said?”


But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest said to him, “I put you under oath before the living God, tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”


Where you die, I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do thus to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you!”


Saul said, “God do so to me and more also; you shall surely die, Jonathan!”


But if my father intends to do you harm, the Lord do so to Jonathan and more also, if I do not disclose it to you and send you away, so that you may go in safety. May the Lord be with you, as he has been with my father.


God do so to David and more also if by morning I leave so much as one male of all who belong to him.”


But Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel, my son.” He said, “Here I am.”
