The king said to the priest Abiathar, “Go to Anathoth, to your estate, for you deserve death. But I will not at this time put you to death because you carried the ark of the Lord God before my father David and because you shared in all the hardships my father endured.”


Call to me, and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

So they inquired again of the Lord, “Did the man come here?” And the Lord said, “See, he has hidden himself among the baggage.”


Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring the ark of God here.” For at that time the ark of God went with the Israelites.


But one of the sons of Ahimelech son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.


David said, “O Lord, the God of Israel, your servant has heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah, to destroy the city on my account.


When Abiathar son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, he came down with an ephod in his hand.


Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.


David said to the priest Abiathar son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David.
