Your servant thought, ‘The word of my lord the king will set me at rest,’ for my lord the king is like the angel of God, discerning good and evil. The Lord your God be with you!”


The whole earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put into his mind.


It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this.


All Israel heard of the judgment that the king had rendered, and they stood in awe of the king because they perceived that the wisdom of God was in him to execute justice.


Only, may the Lord grant you discretion and understanding, so that when he gives you charge over Israel you may keep the law of the Lord your God.


Grant to my son Solomon that with single mind he may keep your commandments, your decrees, and your statutes, performing all of them, and that he may build the temple for which I have made provision.”


Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can rule this great people of yours?”


Your decrees are righteous forever; give me understanding that I may live.


Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.


Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.


It is the wisdom of the clever to understand where they go, but the folly of fools misleads.


How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.


The hearing ear and the seeing eye— the Lord has made them both.


Wisdom is as good as an inheritance, an advantage to those who see the sun.


Wisdom gives strength to the wise more than ten rulers who are in a city.


Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy.”


And you, do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them, for I am going to bring disaster upon all flesh, says the Lord, but I will give you your life as a prize of war in every place to which you may go.”


He changes times and seasons, deposes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.


“I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is more powerful than I, and I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.


John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”


“I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just because I seek to do not my own will but the will of him who sent me.


to the one group a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is qualified for these things?


Not that we are qualified of ourselves to claim anything as coming from us; our qualification is from God,


So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.


to help you to determine what really matters, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless,


But solid food is for the mature, for those whose faculties have been trained by practice to distinguish good from evil.


If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you.


But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.
