let the wise, too, hear and gain in learning and the discerning acquire skill,

Pilate asked him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”

You are from your father the devil, and you choose to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

You must understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger,

Therefore I intend to keep on reminding you of these things, though you know them already and are established in the truth that has come to you.

And by this we will know that we are from the truth and will reassure our hearts before him

Now I desire to remind you, though you are fully informed, once and for all, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
