He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.

House and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.

You ask, “Why does he not?” Because the Lord was a witness between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.

But I say to you that anyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Each of you, however, should love his wife as himself, and a wife should respect her husband.

that each one of you know how to control your own body in holiness and honor,

They forbid marriage and abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

Then if their fathers or their brothers come to complain to us, we will say to them, ‘Be generous and allow us to have them, because we did not capture in battle a wife for each man. But neither did you incur guilt by giving your daughters to them.’ ”
