5 Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive commendation from God.

He uncovers deep things from the darkness and brings deep darkness to light.


One is commended for good sense, but a perverse mind is despised.


Rejoice, young man, while you are young, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Follow the inclination of your heart and the desire of your eyes, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.


For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.


For my eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from my presence, nor is their iniquity concealed from my sight.


I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in my name, saying, “I have dreamed! I have dreamed!”


Though they offer choice sacrifices, though they eat flesh, the Lord does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity and punish their sins; they shall return to Egypt.


Then once more you shall see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.


“So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered and nothing secret that will not become known.


“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see ‘the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven’ with power and great glory.


Blessed is that slave whom his master will find at work when he arrives.


His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things; I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven;


Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!”


So the rumor spread among the brothers and sisters that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?”


How can you believe when you accept glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the one who alone is God?


Who are you to pass judgment on slaves of another? It is before their own lord that they stand or fall. And they will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make them stand.


Therefore you are without excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others, for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things.


on the day when, according to my gospel, God through Christ Jesus judges the secret thoughts of all.


Rather, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not the written code. Such a person receives praise not from humans but from God.


to those who by patiently doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life,


so that you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ.


But if anyone is disposed to be contentious—we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God.


For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.


But each in its own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.


the work of each builder will become visible, for the day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each has done.


If the work that someone has built on the foundation survives, the builder will receive a wage.


The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and each will receive wages according to their own labor.


For it is not those who commend themselves that are approved but those whom the Lord commends.


I do not want to seem as though I am trying to frighten you with my letters.


We have renounced the shameful, underhanded ways; we refuse to practice cunning or to falsify God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God.


For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive due recompense for actions done in the body, whether good or evil.


For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.


And before him no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bare to the eyes of the one to whom we must render an account.


Do not speak evil against one another, brothers and sisters. Whoever speaks evil against another or judges another speaks evil against the law and judges the law, but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.


Be patient, therefore, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains.


Brothers and sisters, do not grumble against one another, so that you may not be judged. See, the Judge is standing at the doors!


so that the genuineness of your faith—being more precious than gold that, though perishable, is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.


And when the chief shepherd appears, you will win the crown of glory that never fades away.


waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set ablaze and destroyed and the elements will melt with fire?


and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since our ancestors died, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation!”


It was also about these that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “See, the Lord is coming with ten thousands of his holy ones,


Look! He is coming with the clouds; every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. So it is to be. Amen.


And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books.
