Then Joab came into the house to the king and said, “Today you have covered with shame the faces of all your officers who have saved your life today, and the lives of your sons and your daughters, and the lives of your wives and your concubines,


For the Jews there was light and gladness, joy and honor.


Consider and answer me, O Lord my God! Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death,


On the day I called, you answered me; you increased my strength of soul.


It is you who light my lamp; the Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.


Do not let those who wait for you be put to shame; let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.


I lie down and sleep; I wake again, for the Lord sustains me.


For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.


Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”


Those who bring thanksgiving as their sacrifice honor me; to those who go the right way, I will show the salvation of God.”


Fill their faces with shame, so that they may seek your name, O Lord.


Light dawns for the righteous and joy for the upright in heart.


Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.
