I alone am the one who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.

At once Jesus perceived in his spirit that they were discussing these questions among themselves, and he said to them, “Why do you raise such questions in your hearts?
Then the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, “Who is this who is speaking blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
But those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
The Jews answered, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, though only a human, are making yourself God.”
