You shall settle in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children’s children, as well as your flocks, your herds, and all that you have.


I will provide for you there, since there are five more years of famine to come, so that you and your household and all that you have will not come to poverty.’


God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to keep alive for you many survivors.


So Joseph went and told Pharaoh, “My father and my brothers, with their flocks and herds and all that they possess, have come from the land of Canaan; they are now in the land of Goshen.”


As for the people, he made slaves of them from one end of Egypt to the other.


And at the harvests you shall give one-fifth to Pharaoh, and four-fifths shall be your own, as seed for the field and as food for yourselves and your households and as food for your little ones.”


So have no fear; I myself will provide for you and your little ones.” In this way he reassured them, speaking kindly to them.


“Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.


And they will hang on him the whole weight of his ancestral house, the offspring and issue, every small vessel, from the cups to all the flagons.


though we might have made demands as apostles of Christ. But we were gentle among you, like a nurse tenderly caring for her own children.


for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.


If a widow has children or grandchildren, they should first learn their religious duty to their own family and make some repayment to their parents, for this is pleasing in God’s sight.


And whoever does not provide for relatives, and especially for family members, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.


He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has borne him.”
