Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, who reigned for forty years.


Then Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel near, and the tribe of Benjamin was taken by lot.


So they inquired again of the Lord, “Did the man come here?” And the Lord said, “See, he has hidden himself among the baggage.”


He had a son whose name was Saul, a handsome young man. There was not a man among the Israelites more handsome than he; he stood head and shoulders above everyone else.
