He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.

And the man said unto Joab, Though I should receive a thousand shekels of silver in mine hand, yet would I not put forth mine hand against the king's son: for in our hearing the king charged thee and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Beware that none touch the young man Absalom.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before Yahweh: and they anointed David king over Israel.

Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not Yahweh, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which Yahweh commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

Let all mine enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:

My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.

My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.

Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

I counsel thee to keep the king's commandment, and that in regard of the oath of Elohim.

O Yahweh, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the assembly.

And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of Yahweh; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not show it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of Yahweh.

Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that Yahweh had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my master; for he is Yahweh's anointed.
