So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before Yahweh: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.

His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; for he that is hanged is accursed of Elohim; that thy land be not defiled, which Yahweh thy Elohim giveth thee for an inheritance.
That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.
