And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of Yahweh until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.
And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of Yahweh, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of Elah, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.

And they fell upon their faces, and said, O El, the Elohim of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
And Joshua said, Alas, O Sovereign Yahweh, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan
And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness for in one hour is she made desolate.
And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto Yahweh, and I cannot go back.
And the children of Israel went up and wept before Yahweh until even, and asked counsel of Yahweh, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And Yahweh said, Go up against him.
Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of Elohim, and wept, and sat there before Yahweh, and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before Yahweh.
