When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Hang him, hang him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and impale him: for I find no fault in him.
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:
But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, impale him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I impale your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
