Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath breathed out her soul; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith Yahweh.
Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken Yahweh thy Elohim, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Sovereign Yahweh of hosts.
But Yahweh is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.
We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against Yahweh our Elohim, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of Yahweh our Elohim.
Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other elohim, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.
Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not Yahweh in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities?
For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.
