When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;
Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of Yahweh, and spread it before Yahweh.
Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear Yahweh, and besought Yahweh, and Yahweh repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.
Woe unto thee, Chorazin woe unto thee, Bethsaida for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
