If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,
He that strikes a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
If a thief be caught in the act, and be struck that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.
And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbor's wife,
Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Sovereign Yahweh.
Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Sovereign return unto him.
