There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when Yahweh made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
Thus saith Yahweh, the Elohim of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying,
Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of Yahweh our Elohim, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of Yahweh our Elohim.
Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Sovereign Yahweh, and thou becamest mine.
Have we not all one father? hath not one El created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?
And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.
And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the assembly of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the letter from Laodicea.
