And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the ark of the Sovereign Yahweh before David my father, and because thou hast been afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.

And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work.

And Saul said unto Ahiah, Bring here the ark of Elohim. For the ark of Elohim was at that time with the children of Israel.

And Ahiah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, Yahweh's priest in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. And the people knew not that Jonathan was gone.

And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

Therefore David enquired of Yahweh, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And Yahweh said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, Elohim hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.

And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring here the ephod.

And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray thee, bring me here the ephod. And Abiathar brought there the ephod to David.
