For Yahweh does listen to the poor and needy and will not abandon his prisoners of love.

Yahweh, you have heard the desires of the humble and seen their hopes. You will hear their cries and encourage their hearts.

He responds to the prayer of the poor and broken and will not despise the cry of the homeless.

He listened to all the groaning of his people longing to be free, and he set loose the sons of death to experience life.

Some of us once sat in darkness, living in the dark shadows of death. We were prisoners to our pain, chained to our regrets.

But the Lord says, “Now I will arise! I will defend the poor, those who were plundered, the oppressed, and the needy who groan for help. I will spring into action to rescue and protect them!”

The oppressed get justice with you. The hungry are satisfied with you. Prisoners find their freedom with you.

From the four corners of the earth, the peoples of the world will remember and return to Yahweh. Every nation will come and worship him.

Join me, everyone! Let’s praise the Lord together. Let’s make him famous! Let’s make his name glorious to all.

When I had nothing, desperate and defeated, I cried out to the Lord and he heard me, bringing his miracle-deliverance when I needed it most.

My hand made these things so they all belong to me,” declares Yahweh. “But there is one my eyes are drawn to: the humble one, the tender one, the trembling one who lives in awe of all I say.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and he has anointed me to be hope for the poor, healing for the brokenhearted, and new eyes for the blind, and to preach to prisoners, ‘You are set free!’ I have come to share the message of Jubilee, for the time of God’s great acceptance has begun.”

Beloved friends, because of my love for Jesus Christ, I am now his prisoner for the sake of all of you who are not Jews,

Do not yield to fear in the face of the suffering to come but be aware of this: the devil is about to have some of you thrown into prison to test your faith. For ten days you will have distress but remain faithful to the day you die, and I will give you the victor’s crown of life.
