Here’s another life lesson to learn from observing wayward and wicked men. You can tell they are lawless. They’re constant liars, proud deceivers, full of clever ploys and convincing plots.

How they brag and boast of their cravings, exalting the greedy. They congratulate themselves as they despise you—

Their mouths spew out cursing, lies, and threats. Only trouble and turmoil come from all their plans.

I refuse to gaze on that which is vulgar. I despise works of evil people and anything that moves my heart away from you. I will not let evil hold me in its grip.

Their wicked words are nothing but lies. Wisdom is far from them. Goodness is both forgotten and forsaken.

boiling over with rage, shouting out their curses, convinced that they’ll never get caught.

Words that bring delight pour from the lips of the godly, but the words of the wicked are duplicitous.

Integrity will keep a good man from falling. But the unbeliever is trapped, held captive to his sinful desires.

A wicked scoundrel wants to dig up dirt on others, only to spread slander and shred their reputation.

It’s easy to tell when a wicked man is hatching some crooked scheme— it’s written all over his face. His looks betray him as he gives birth to his sin.

Those eager to embrace evil listen to slander, for a liar loves to listen to lies.

It will rescue you from evil in disguise and from those who speak duplicities.

Every violent thug is despised by the Lord, but every tender lover finds friendship with God and will hear his intimate secrets.

Avoid dishonest speech and pretentious words. Be free from using perverse words no matter what!

Their twisted thoughts are perverse, and they are always scheming to stir up trouble, and sowing strife with every step they take.

Wisdom pours into you when you begin to hate every form of evil in your life, for that’s what worship and fearing God is all about. Then you will discover that your pompous pride and perverse speech are the very ways of wickedness that I hate!”

One basket was full of excellent figs that ripened early, and the other was full of rotten figs that were not fit to eat.

But you who are known as the Pharisees are rotten to the core like venomous snakes. How can your words be good if you are rotten within? For what has been stored up in your hearts will be heard in the overflow of your words!

Even some from among your very own ranks will rise up, twisting the truth to seduce people into following them instead of Jesus.

Those widows who go around from house to house as busybodies are only learning to be lazy, making their situation even worse by talking too much, gossiping, and speaking things they shouldn’t. They become far too obsessed with empty things that will not bear good fruit.

So this is why we abandon everything morally impure and all forms of wicked conduct. Instead, with a sensitive spirit we absorb God’s Word, which has been implanted within our nature, for the Word of Life has power to continually deliver us.

And the tongue is a fire! It can be compared to the sum total of wickedness and is the most dangerous part of our human body. It corrupts the entire body and is a hellish flame! It releases a fire that can burn throughout the course of human existence.
