Proverbs 24:12

The Passion Translation

And why would you say, “But it’s none of my business”? The one who knows you completely and judges your every motive is also the keeper of souls—and not just yours! He sees through your excuses and holds you responsible for failing to help those whose lives are threatened.

He will guard and guide me, never letting me stumble or fall. God is my keeper; he will never forget nor ignore me.

You will be guarded by God himself. You will be safe when you leave your home, and safely you will return. He will protect you now, and he’ll protect you forevermore!

For in a visitation of the night you inspected my heart and refined my soul in fire until nothing vile was found in me. I will not sin with my words.

“All the love you need is found in me!” And it’s true that you repay people for what they do.

There’s no doubt about it: God holds our lives safely in his hands. He’s the one who keeps us faithfully following him.

Once and for all, bring to an end the evil tactics of the wicked! Establish the cause of the righteous, for you are the righteous God, the soul searcher, who tests every heart to examine the thoughts and motives.

God isn’t hard of hearing; he’ll hear all their cries. God isn’t blind. He who made the eye has superb vision, and he’s watching all you do.

For there is great satisfaction in speaking the truth, and hard work brings blessings back to you.

We are all in love with our own opinions, convinced they’re correct. But the Lord is in the midst of us, testing and probing our every motive.

We may think we’re right all the time, but God thoroughly examines our motives.

For God sees everything you do and his eyes are wide open as he observes every single habit you have.

Beware that your sins don’t overtake you and that the scars of your own conscience don’t become the ropes that tie you up.

“I, Yahweh, probe the heart, and I thoroughly test the inner being to give to all people what they deserve according to their ways and based on their deeds.”

You surpass all with your wise counsel and wise planning. Your miracles reveal your mighty power. Your eyes see everything people do, and you repay each one according to what their ways and actions deserve.

to cheat someone of justice— these things the Lord does not approve.

Instead, you lifted yourself up above the sovereign Lord of the heavens. And you brought into your banquet hall the vessels of his temple so that you and your nobles, your wives, and your concubines might drink wine from them. You lifted praises to your gods of gold and silver, of bronze and iron, of wood and stone, who do not see or hear or know anything; but the God who controls your very life breath and every move you make you did not glorify.

I, the Son of Man, will one day return with my messengers and in the splendor and majesty of my Father. And then I will reward each person according to what they have done.

It is through him that we live and function and have our identity; just as your own poets have said, ‘Our lineage comes from him.’

So this judgment will be revealed on the day when God, through Jesus the Messiah, judges the hidden secrets of people’s hearts. And their response to my gospel will be the standard of judgment used in that day.

For: He will give to each one in return for what he has done.

So resist the temptation to pronounce premature judgment on anything before the appointed time when all will be fully revealed. Instead, wait until the Lord makes his appearance, for he will bring all that is hidden in darkness to light and unveil every secret motive of everyone’s heart. Then, when the whole truth is known, each will receive praise from God.

For one day we will all be openly revealed before Christ on his throne so that each of us will be duly recompensed for our actions done in life, whether good or worthless.

the Living One! I was dead, but now look—I am alive forever and ever. And I hold the keys that unlock death and the unseen world.

Write the following to the messenger of the congregation in Thyatira. For these are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished brass:

And I will strike down her followers with a deadly plague. Then all the congregations will realize that I am the one who thoroughly searches the most secret thought and the innermost being. I will give to each one what their works deserve.

“Behold, I am coming quickly! I bring my reward with me to repay everyone according to their works.
