The Passion Translation

But my tent has been torn down, and all my cords are severed. I’ll never see my children again, for they have left me. There is no one left to stretch out my tent and no one who can hang my curtains.

The wicked are taken out, gone for good, but the godly families shall live on.

“I have placed my words in your mouth and have hidden you in the hollow of my hand to establish the heavens and make the earth rock solid. You will say to Zion, ‘You are my people!’ ”

There are none of Zion’s children left, none to guide her home and take her by the hand, none among all the children she has raised.

“Increase is coming, so enlarge your tent and add extensions to your dwelling. Hold nothing back! Make the tent ropes longer and the pegs stronger.

For I, Yahweh, say to you who were once called ‘Outcast,’ I will heal your wounds. And to you who were once called ‘Forgotten Zion,’ I will restore your health.”

Yahweh says, “In Ramah voices are crying; it is the sound of wailing and bitter weeping. Rachel is mourning for her children, and she refuses to let anyone comfort her over her loss, because her children are no more.”

A chain of disasters, one after another. The entire land is in ruins! Suddenly, and in an instant, our tent and its curtains are destroyed.

Her foes have the upper hand while her enemies are now at ease. For Yahweh has made Jerusalem suffer for her many, many sins. Her young children are taken into captivity as captives before the oppressor.
