The Passion Translation

Why spend your hard-earned money on something that can’t nourish you or work so hard for something that can’t satisfy? So listen carefully to me and you’ll enjoy a sumptuous feast, delighting in the finest of food.

Let all the poor and broken eat until satisfied. Bring Yahweh praise and you will find him. May your hearts overflow with life forever!

Come, children of God, and listen to me. I’ll share the lesson I’ve learned of fearing the Lord:

All may drink of the anointing from the abundance of your house. All may drink their fill from the rivers of Eden.

I overflow with praise when I come before you, for the anointing of your presence satisfies me like nothing else. You are such a rich banquet of pleasure to my soul.

But the one who always listens to me will live undisturbed in a heavenly peace. Free from fear, confident and courageous, that one will rest unafraid and sheltered from the storms of life.”

He’s like a man about to be executed with an arrow right through his heart— like a bird that flies into the net, unaware of what’s about to happen.

“So listen, my sons and daughters, to everything I tell you, for nothing will bring you more joy than following my ways.

come and dine at my table and drink of my wine.

If you have a willing heart to let me help you, and if you will obey me, you will feast on the blessings of an abundant harvest.

In that day the Lord will remove the heavy burden from your shoulders and break off the yoke of bondage from your necks because of the heavy anointing upon you!

The Lord Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, will host a rich feast on this mountain for all peoples— a feast with plenty of meat and well-aged wine, with an abundance of food and the finest of wine.

He feeds his spirit on ashes! His deluded heart leads him astray. He can’t even ask himself, “Is this thing I’m holding in my right hand a fraud?”

The wealthy pour out their gold, weigh out their silver in the scales, and hire a goldsmith who crafts it into a ‘god.’ Then they bow down before it to worship it.

“Listen to me, you who chase after righteousness, you who passionately pursue the Lord. Look back to Abraham, the rock from which you were cut, to Sarah, the quarry from which you were dug, and remember what I did for them.

“Listen to me, my people; pay attention to me, my nation. For I release my teaching to the nations, and I will cause the light of justice to rest on them.

So listen to me, you who care for what is right, who treasure my teaching in your hearts: Do not fear the insults of others; do not be troubled when they revile you.

Yahweh swears an oath by the authority of his right hand and by his mighty arm: “I will never again give your new grain as food for your enemies, nor will foreigners drink your new wine that you worked hard to produce.

Instead, you who harvest it will eat it and offer your praise to Yahweh, and you who gather the grapes will drink the new wine in my holy courts.”

They will neither work in vain for someone else, nor will their children face disaster for they will be children and grandchildren who are blessed by Yahweh.

The people planted wheat but reaped nothing but weeds. They wearied themselves for nothing. They will be disappointed by their small harvest because of the burning anger of Yahweh.”

If you listen to me, declares Yahweh, and do not bring in any load through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day but observe the Sabbath day as set apart for me and do no work that day,

“My people are guilty of a double sin: they have abandoned me, the Spring of Living Water, and they have dug for themselves cisterns — cracked cisterns that hold no water.”

Yahweh says, “I will refresh the desire of my priests with abundance and lavish gifts on my people until they are more than satisfied.”

They pretend to worship me, but their worship is nothing more than the empty traditions of men.”

So the king sent even more servants to inform the invited guests, saying, ‘Come, for the sumptuous feast is now ready! The oxen and fattened cattle have been killed and everything is prepared, so come! Come to the wedding feast for my son and his bride!’

“How enriched you are when you crave righteousness! For you will be satisfied.

Then Jesus called the crowd together again, saying, “Hear my words, all of you, and take them to heart.

Let’s prepare a great feast and celebrate.

Why would you strive for food that is perishable and not be passionate to seek the food of eternal life, which never spoils? I, the Son of Man, am ready to give you what matters most, for God the Father has destined me for this purpose.”

Faith, then, is birthed in a heart that responds to God’s anointed utterance of the Anointed One.

Yet Israel, even though pursuing a legal righteousness, did not attain to it.

So don’t let anyone lead you astray with all sorts of novel and exotic teachings. It is more beautiful to feast on grace and be inwardly strengthened than to be obsessed with dietary rules which in themselves have no lasting benefit.
