Wasn’t it you who dried up the Red Sea with its deep waters and made a path through the sea to rescue your redeemed?

You freed them from the strong power of those who oppressed them and rescued them from bondage.

You roared over the waters of the Red Sea, making a dry path for your people to cross through.

It was you who split the sea in two by your glorious strength. You smashed the power of Tannin, the sea monster.

Your steps formed a highway through the seas with footprints on a pathway no one even knew was there.

The Lord Yahweh will dry up the gulf of the Egyptian Sea. He will raise his hand over the Euphrates, and with the might of his wind, he will split it into seven streams that can be easily crossed in sandals.

Then there will be a highway leading out of Assyria for his remnant people to return, just as there was for Israel when they were set free from Egypt.

Yahweh’s ransomed ones will return with glee to Zion. They will enter with a song of rejoicing and be crowned with everlasting joy. Ecstatic joy will overwhelm them; weariness and grief will disappear!

There will be a highway of holiness called the Sacred Way. The impure will not be permitted on this road, but it will be accessible to God’s people. And not even fools will lose their way.

The lion will not be found there; no wild beast will travel on it— they will not be found there. But the redeemed will find a pathway on it.

I will level their hills and mountains and dry up all their vegetation. I will turn rivers into islands and dry up their lakes.

Yahweh is the one who makes a way in the sea, a pathway in the mighty waters.

When I came to you, why was no one there? When I called, why did no one answer? Am I powerless to rescue you or too weak to deliver you? With only a threat I can evaporate the sea and dry up the rivers as a desert, leaving the fish to rot and die of thirst.

They will be called His Holy People, The Redeemed of Yahweh. And you will be known as Those Whom God Loves, A City Not Abandoned.

When they suffered, he suffered with them. The Angel of His Presence saved them. Out of his enduring love and compassion he redeemed them. He lifted them up, carried them in his arms, and cared for them all the days of old.
