When the nations are in uproar with their tottering kingdoms, God simply raises his voice, and the earth begins to disintegrate before him.

Don’t kill them; stagger them all with a vivid display of power and scatter them with your armies of angels, O mighty God, our protector! Use your awesome power to make them wanderers and vagabonds and then bring them down.

Chase them away—all these God-haters. Blow them away as a puff of smoke. Melt them away like wax in the fire. One good look at you and the wicked vanish.

For they have fled from the battle, from the drawn swords, from the bent bows, and from the weight of warfare.

Their spoil will be harvested, carried away like locusts that strip a field bare. And like leaping locusts, men will leap upon the spoils.

“Jeremiah, you must prophesy all these words to them: “ ‘Yahweh roars from heaven’s heights; his voice thunders from his holy dwelling place. He roars mightily against his people, and his shout will be like those who tread grapes— a shout that echoes to the ends of the earth.

The noise will resound over all the earth. For Yahweh declares: I am indicting the nations, bringing all humanity to trial, and sentencing the wicked to death.’ ”
