but now the Lord Yahweh says, “In exactly three years, the splendor of Moab and her huge population will shrink to nothing; only a small and feeble remnant will remain.”

Now Jacob heard that the sons of Laban were complaining, “Everything Jacob owns he has taken from our father! He gained all his wealth from what our father owned.”

But they will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia to the west; together they will plunder the people of the east. They will rule over Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites will obey them.

My heart cries out for the people of Moab, for her fugitives who flee to Zoar and to Eglath-shelishiyah. Weeping, they climb the upward road to Luhith. Their loud cries of anguish are heard all along the way to Horonaim.

This was the word the Lord Yahweh spoke in the past about Moab,

“On that day, the beautiful splendor of Jacob’s northern tribes will be brought low, and they will become like skin and bones.

This is what the Sovereign God said to me: “Within exactly one year, all the splendor of Kedar will end.

Yahweh, the Commander of Angel Armies, has planned it! His plan is to eliminate the pride of your presumed splendor and to humiliate the honored of the world.

The mighty, gracious hand of the Lord Yahweh will rest upon this mountain, but the Moabites will be trampled under his feet as straw gets trampled into the manure.

They will stretch out their arms in it like a swimmer stretches out his arms to swim, yet God will bring down their pride, and they will thrash and sink despite their struggle.

Yet even before that time comes for him to know good and evil, the lands of those two kings you dread will be deserted.”

Moab will be destroyed, wiped from the earth, because she exalted herself against Yahweh.”

Yahweh says: “The wise must not boast in their wisdom, the mighty must not boast in their power, and the wealthy must not boast in their riches.
