Genesis 35:18

With her dying breath, Rachel said, “His name is Son of My Sorrow,” but his father called him Son of My Right Hand.

When Rachel saw that she could not give Jacob children, her jealousy toward her sister simmered. So, she said to Jacob, “Give me sons, or I’ll die!”

As she was having great difficulty in giving birth, the midwife said to her, “Don’t be afraid, for you’re having another son!”

Rachel died and was buried on the road to Ephrath (now Bethlehem).

Rachel’s sons were Joseph and Benjamin.

But Jacob replied, “I can’t let my son Benjamin go with you. For his brother is dead, and of Rachel’s sons, he alone is left. If he were to meet with disaster on your journey, I would die of grief! You will send my white hair and broken heart sorrowing down to the grave!”

but Jacob did not send Joseph’s full brother Benjamin with them, because he feared something might happen to him.

May the God who is more than enough grant you mercy and favor before the man, so that he may send back both Simeon and Benjamin. As for me, if I suffer loss, then let it be so.”

“Benjamin is a ferocious wolf. He devours his prey; in the evening, he divides the spoil.”

For you will not abandon me to the realm of death, nor will you allow your Faithful One to experience corruption.

Strengthen this Branch-Man, the Son of your love, the Son of Man who dwells at your right hand.

They keep saying, “Mommy, I’m hungry,” as they faint like wounded men in the city streets. Their souls trickle away, and they breathe their last in the embrace of their mothers.

“God said to him, ‘What a fool you are to trust in your riches and not in me! This very night the messengers of death will demand to take your life. Then who will get all the wealth you have stored up for yourself?’

Then Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Father, I surrender my Spirit into your hands.” And he took his last breath and died.

As they hurled stone after stone at him, Stephen prayed, “Our Lord Jesus, accept my spirit into your presence.”
