"God will not turn back his anger; beneath him bowed the helpers of Rahab.

By his power he stilled the sea; by his understanding he shattered Rahab.

Among those who know me I mention Rahab and Babylon; behold, Philistia and Tyre, with Cush[1] -- "This one was born there," they say.

You crushed Rahab like a carcass; you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.

Egypt's help is worthless and empty; therefore I have called her "Rahab who sits still."

Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he stretched out his hand against them and struck them, and the mountains quaked; and their corpses were as refuse in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.

Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in days of old, the generations of long ago. Was it not you who cut Rahab in pieces, that pierced the dragon?
