For the company of the godless is barren, and fire consumes the tents of bribery.

He is torn from the tent in which he trusted and is brought to the king of terrors.

For you say, 'Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?'

He does not keep the wicked alive, but gives the afflicted their right.

Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them, do they not die, and that without wisdom?'

Why do you not pardon my transgression and take away my iniquity? For now I shall lie in the earth; you will seek me, but I shall not be."

He leans against his house, but it does not stand; he lays hold of it, but it does not endure.

If he is destroyed from his place, then it will deny him, saying, 'I have never seen you.'

Then Job answered and said:

May my accusers be clothed with dishonor; may they be wrapped in their own shame as in a cloak!

His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine."

Let them be put to shame and disappointed altogether who rejoice at my calamity! Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me!

The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.

Then all the princes of the sea will step down from their thrones and remove their robes and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling; they will sit on the ground and tremble every moment and be appalled at you.

The king mourns, the prince is wrapped in despair, and the hands of the people of the land are paralyzed by terror. According to their way I will do to them, and according to their judgments I will judge them, and they shall know that I am the LORD."

I will send it out, declares the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears falsely by my name. And it shall remain in his house and consume it, both timber and stones."

Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."
