I will destine you to the sword, and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter, because, when I called, you did not answer; when I spoke, you did not listen, but you did what was evil in my eyes and chose what I did not delight in."

And now, because you have done all these things, declares the LORD, and when I spoke to you persistently you did not listen, and when I called you, you did not answer,

"So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall call to them, but they will not answer you.

And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute vengeance for the covenant. And if you gather within your cities, I will send pestilence among you, and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

And in anger and wrath I will execute vengeance on the nations that did not obey.

Were not these the words that the LORD proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and prosperous, with her cities around her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?"

and sent his servants[1] to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.

The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.

He came to his own,[2] and his own people[3] did not receive him.

Outdoors the sword shall bereave, and indoors terror, for young man and woman alike, the nursing child with the man of gray hairs.
