If even lifeless instruments, such as the flute or the harp, do not give distinct notes, how will anyone know what is played?

They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, " 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.'

After that you shall come to Gibeath-elohim,[2] where there is a garrison of the Philistines. And there, as soon as you come to the city, you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with harp, tambourine, flute, and lyre before them, prophesying.
