Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water."

but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with[2] the Holy Spirit not many days from now."

the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction:

Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also,

He received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. The purpose was to make him the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well,

and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,

Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave[6] nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

This mystery is[1] that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,

knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.

To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave,[5] free; but Christ is all, and in all.

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
