For David said, "The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever.

Now when the king lived in his house and the LORD had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies,

from the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel. And I will give you rest from all your enemies. Moreover, the LORD declares to you that the LORD will make you a house.

I have indeed built you an exalted house, a place for you to dwell in forever."

"But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built!

A long time afterward, when the LORD had given rest to Israel from all their surrounding enemies, and Joshua was old and well advanced in years,
