The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. He prayed to the Lord, who answered him and gave him a miraculous sign.
“Surely God does not reject one who is blameless or strengthen the hands of evildoers.
May their sins always remain before the Lord, that he may blot out their name from the earth.
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;
The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all;
This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.
But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.
Endless ruin has overtaken my enemies, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished.
He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
The name of the righteous is used in blessings, but the name of the wicked will rot.
Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.
I will set my face against them and make them an example and a byword. I will remove them from my people. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
Though they are driven into exile by their enemies, there I will command the sword to slay them. “I will keep my eye on them for harm and not for good.”
I said I would scatter them and erase their name from human memory,
