Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”— when you already have it with you.

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

I have taken off my robe— must I put it on again? I have washed my feet— must I soil them again?

“ ‘Do not defraud or rob your neighbor. “ ‘Do not hold back the wages of a hired worker overnight.

Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.

But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be.

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
