Listen, my son, and be wise, and set your heart on the right path:
Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge.
My son, give me your heart and let your eyes delight in my ways,
Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!
Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of insight.”
They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”
Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.
