And I will bring the sword on you to avenge the breaking of the covenant. When you withdraw into your cities, I will send a plague among you, and you will be given into enemy hands.

So the Lord sent a plague on Israel from that morning until the end of the time designated, and seventy thousand of the people from Dan to Beersheba died.

and say: ‘You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys: I am about to bring a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.

A sword will flash in their cities; it will devour their false prophets and put an end to their plans.

Plague went before him; pestilence followed his steps.

I will strike them down with a plague and destroy them, but I will make you into a nation greater and stronger than they.”

But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah.

So Moses said to the people, “Arm some of your men to go to war against the Midianites so that they may carry out the Lord’s vengeance on them.

There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

The Lord will plague you with diseases until he has destroyed you from the land you are entering to possess.

In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. The young men and young women will perish, the infants and those with gray hair.

It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them.”

when I sharpen my flashing sword and my hand grasps it in judgment, I will take vengeance on my adversaries and repay those who hate me.

Then three thousand men from Judah went down to the cave in the rock of Etam and said to Samson, “Don’t you realize that the Philistines are rulers over us? What have you done to us?” He answered, “I merely did to them what they did to me.”
