Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

Does it please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile on the plans of the wicked?

Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands.

The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.

O God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture?

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;

Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people.

The Lord Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.”

You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, “You did not make me”? Can the pot say to the potter, “You know nothing”?

“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.

everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

“Remember these things, Jacob, for you, Israel, are my servant. I have made you, you are my servant; Israel, I will not forget you.

“This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the Lord, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself,

“This is what the Lord says— the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Concerning things to come, do you question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands?

“Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’?

I will not accuse them forever, nor will I always be angry, for then they would faint away because of me— the very people I have created.

Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor.

But you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us; you, Lord, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.

He said, “Surely they are my people, children who will be true to me”; and so he became their Savior.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

They will come with weeping; they will pray as I bring them back. I will lead them beside streams of water on a level path where they will not stumble, because I am Israel’s father, and Ephraim is my firstborn son.

“Yet the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore, which cannot be measured or counted. In the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ they will be called ‘children of the living God.’

Do we not all have one Father? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our ancestors by being unfaithful to one another?

You are doing the works of your own father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith,

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Is this the way you repay the Lord, you foolish and unwise people? Is he not your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you?

But they are your people, your inheritance that you brought out by your great power and your outstretched arm.”
