You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness.

The elders of Gilead replied, “The Lord is our witness; we will certainly do as you say.”

Samuel said to them, “The Lord is witness against you, and also his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand.” “He is witness,” they said.
