Exodus 16:23

New International Version

He said to them, “This is what the Lord commanded: ‘Tomorrow is to be a day of sabbath rest, a holy sabbath to the Lord. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.’ ”

“You came down on Mount Sinai; you spoke to them from heaven. You gave them regulations and laws that are just and right, and decrees and commands that are good.

You made known to them your holy Sabbath and gave them commands, decrees and laws through your servant Moses.

Then Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning.”

“Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed.

For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death.

Do not bring a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your ancestors.

“ ‘There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the Lord.

The manna was like coriander seed and looked like resin.

The people went around gathering it, and then ground it in a hand mill or crushed it in a mortar. They cooked it in a pot or made it into loaves. And it tasted like something made with olive oil.

Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.

“Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you.

On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,
