Your ancestors who went down into Egypt were seventy in all, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars in the sky.

All those who went to Egypt with Jacob—those who were his direct descendants, not counting his sons’ wives—numbered sixty-six persons.

After this, Joseph sent for his father Jacob and his whole family, seventy-five in all.

The Lord your God has increased your numbers so that today you are as numerous as the stars in the sky.

May the Lord, the God of your ancestors, increase you a thousand times and bless you as he has promised!

Then you shall declare before the Lord your God: “My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful and numerous.

You who were as numerous as the stars in the sky will be left but few in number, because you did not obey the Lord your God.

And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.
